# I don’t know if you guys remember my prev post but I got 2 orchids…

I don’t know if you guys remember my prev post but I got 2 orchids that were on their way out from a neighbor . One is doing great 1st pic the 2nd one not so much 2nd pic as of today . I’m not really sure what to do here . Do I cut the leaf off \& treat it different ? I added the 3rd pic so you can see the roots . I did remove a few that were a little squishy I’m a noob to orchids but don’t think that’s a good sign for any plant . I did look on line \& it’s usually about orchids without roots so I’m not really sure where to go from here since it has roots . For the record I’ve only been watering when the roots look grey/white . Ty in advance. Last pic is the before of both

You are watering the way you should. If the second one is not responding and continues to yellow, it may have just been too far gone to begin with. I wouldn’t cut any orchid leaf unless there was obvious signs of infection spreading to the axis of the plant. If you cut it, it can open the plant, already struggling, to infection. Since it’s extremely tapped of resources, taking its only way of photosynthesizing isn’t an ideal option if you don’t have to. It’ll wither off on its own, but hopefully hold on until it can start growing a new leaf. It won’t hurt to wait in this instance.

Hi. I’m rescuing an orchid that was very stressed. Googled up and found an idea.
Remove plant from pot and clean roots well. Place roots in clean water for a couple of hours.
In a zip-top bag, put some moss to cover the bottom. Wet the moss with water.
Place plant inside the bag. Roots don’t touch the moss.
In a few weeks you should see new growth.

So rt now the one with the yellow leaves lost its leaves \& had 2 healthy roots left . Maybe I’ll give your suggestion a try .

It’s worth trying. All the best!
