# Hey everyone! My mom has a few orchids she loves but one of them got…

Hey everyone! My mom has a few orchids she loves but one of them got knocked over by our cat and the stem broke off. This was years ago and hasn’t grown much since. The leaves are perfectly healthy but it’s looked like this for a very long time. There’s also some roots that don’t look the best which I’ll include pictures of. Any advice is greatly appreciated! She wants it to be able to bloom again so bad but also wants to know if it’s a lost cause.

Light is generally the culprit for unblooming phals. They need bright indirect light to bloom.

The media looks fine, but if it’s several years old it’s time for a repot. Media typically lasts 2 to 3 years.
