Is my phalaenopsis “Jia Ho Moon” trying to bloom? The little bits sticking out to the left and right have been growing very slowly since…April? They don’t look like roots or leaves…but if it is blooming, isn’t it taking its sweet time?

yes! those are flower spikes 😎😁 they do take a bit of time and should bloom during the winter or early spring — i’m wondering if they got a cool blast or something in april that started them?

Omg. That’s awesome! I think I may have just lucked out and gotten one shipped in spike, although I live in WA and a little internal cold snap is totally possible!!

2 flower spikes! Congrats! Yes, some grow excruciatingly slow.

Nice looking plant! I have one that is currently in bloom. Love it. It has a spicy floral scent, kinda reminds me of a stargazer lily. Newer flowers seem to be a red-purple, older are more blue-purple. It is by far the slowest bloomer in my collection.

It’s been in my collection for a couple of years. Mine is a sequential bloomer so I don’t cut the spikes unless they die back. Most of the time the spikes just hang out taunting me with possibilities. All that to say, be patient and you will be rewarded.
