One of the buds on my orchid died before blooming, does anyone know why this might have happened?

Bud blast.

It sucks.

My guess is temperature. Too hot, too cold, rapid change, and drafts can all cause it. A floor vent did me dirty last year.

Other possibilities include too little water, overwatering, low light, low humidity and insect damage.

Yeah I agree with MeasomerPi. Try moving it to a different spot on whatever surface it’s on right now, usually it’s from an air vent.
