# Hello! This is a rhynchostylis coelestis that I bought and almost…

Hello!

This is a rhynchostylis coelestis that I bought and almost killed. Well, my cat helped. As you can see, before I was able to teach her not to, she chomped some of the leaves. But then I overwatered it (Planta didn’t stop me!) and the roots had shriveled to almost nothing.

I dumped it out of the pot, cleaned everything off the roots, repotted it in an unglazed pot, and let it recover. It took months but now it looks healthier and it’s putting out new leaves!

I recently moved from the Bay Area to Seattle and could only take three plants, but I couldn’t leave this one behind.

Encouragement and advice are most welcome.

What were the other two plants you took with you?

That’s one of the most beautiful orchids! You’re doing so well! Just think of the blooms, that’s what helps me!
