# Hi everyone! I’ve just noticed that the bottom leaf of my Phal looks…

Hi everyone! I’ve just noticed that the bottom leaf of my Phal looks like it’s tearing. Is that common or is it a sign that something is wrong with it?

I’ve repotted a few weeks ago \& have gotten new root growth but I’m new to orchids so I’m not sure if I need to be worried or not.

Do you mean the slightly rough tannish edge along the stem, where the leaf meets the axis of the plant? If so, then no, that can be normal. If you don’t notice an imperfection spreading or growing , it is probably just cosmetic, mechanical damage. Your plant looks very healthy. Let us know if you notice any changes though.

Thank you Jen! I appreciate your help! I’ll post of any changes but I’m hopeful that it’s just cosmetic as you said.
