My first zygopetalum, the Jumpin Jack variety. It’s got such a cool pattern on the flowers. I thought people were exaggerating when they said these plants do not have a floral scent, but one more ‘spicy’. But these blooms smell EXACTLY like black pepper. Not everyone’s cup of tea, of course, but what an interesting orchid.

I really like these. They have interesting color combos, and I like the softer foliage. Not as pokey as an oncidium. Just the thing to “spice” up any orchid collection.

I had one years ago but it didn’t appreciate my tender loving care. I’m trying again with a seedling. It hasn’t died so maybe I’m doing a better job?

Thanks for sharing!

(Was going to comment on another post out figured I’d do it on your actually post) Jen whenever I see misted orchid leaves I think of you now. Oh the audacity! We need to send a petition to planta to stop the notifications.

I just think spreading that kind of misinformation is going to lead to major disappointment for growers. And it’s SUCH an easy thing to avoid!
