Hi! I recently bought a vanilla orchid and I noticed the stem is turning brown at the top. Does anyone have experience with these plants and can tell me what is happening?

I’ve not come across this before. If it were my plant, I would watch it closely. If the browning continues to move down the vine, I would cut back to the first healthy node without any signs of discoloration. I would also check the roots to make sure there is no rot there.

The plant should activate another node and continue on with business as usual.

Best of luck!
