# This is my first orchid. When I got this plant the roots were on top…

This is my first orchid. When I got this plant the roots were on top of the pot similar to this. I didn’t know that they were roots, I thought it was decoration. Should the roots be exposed like that or should they be in the pot?

Those roots are green and not matted so they look good! I would suggest getting an orchid pot. They have holes all through the pot. That is what I use and the roots stick out the holes amongst the substrate.

I just went to the store and got orchid potting mix and an orchid pot!
