# I would love to know peoples tried and true tricks to knowing when…

I would love to know peoples tried and true tricks to knowing when your lithop needs water and or fertilizer.

I feel like mine could be doing better if I knew what to look for.

Right now I water when they sink into the soil, feel slightly squishy/softer, and the tops are starting to show signs of wrinkling (all 3 must be present before I’ll water). After watering they perk back up, but I feel like maybe they’re being under watered or I could be looking for better signs than that….

I also only bottom water and have yet to fertilize them as everything I read says they don’t really need it….

I have nothing tried or true, and it sounds like you’re doing the work ha. Looking “better” could also come with age.
