# Hello everyone, when do you all add propagated plants to your Planta…

_Posted by Sofia on 2026-03-17_

Hello everyone, when do you all add propagated plants to your Planta records? I propagated some succulent leaves that are now growing plantlets but I don’t know if I should log them yet or if I should’ve added them some time ago. Some of these guys have the leaf they grew off of still attached, others have already dropped it. Some have one plantlet, most have two, and one has no plantlet yet although it has rooted. At what stage would you add a new little guy to your plant log? I was thinking once a plantlet appears but sometimes a second plantlet will appear later, although I’m not sure that really matters to the app. I was also thinking that once the original leaf/cutting roots it would be ok to add but that might be too early since no new plant would be present, and the original leaf is not going to stay anyway. I’m not sure which of my little guys I should log, if any.

The 1st pot on the left is the only one with roots but no plantlet. All other pots have plantlets, although some have their original leaf attached while others don’t. Most pots have two leafs propagating but others are solo.

If anyone would be able to provide feedback or advice I would greatly appreciate it!

For me it depends on what im proping. For succs and cactus i usually add and name them when i pot them after the callous over phase. For my water props i usually wait until they have roots and i move them to soil.

Ditto! Logging them in would be a good reminder of when they need to be watered, and would keep you up-to-date on that. However with water props, it could also be a good idea to log them in, just to remind you to keep your water level topped off.

Hey Sofia, I sent my post to somebody else other than you, so you may want to check it out…😵‍💫!

I log them all right away and name them all propagating … the app reminds you when to top up water and when to fully refresh water.

I do wish they’d make a way to set a plant as propagating though because often succulents need less watering while rooting.
