# Hi! i have many questions about this avocado pit im growing: I wanted…

Hi! i have many questions about this avocado pit im growing:

I wanted to pot it, but I wanted to know if the roots look ready and how do I prepare it for soil after being in water for so long?

I was also wondering if the pot shown is too shallow? does it need something deeper/bigger? do i plant the pit underground with the roots or above the soil? also-
what kind of soil would this plant like? i get opposing answers when i use google.

I was also unsure if i should wait until springtime to plant it or if it can be planted anytime?

follow up to that- i wanted to pinch the top to avoid apical dominance but I think its too early to do so, would i be correct with that assumption \& would it be better to wait till spring to do that as well?

thank you in advance🙏

Hi! I'm not an expert on this but here's some things I think might help! The pot seems great as long as they somewhat have space to grow. And I think it's fine since avocado pits have to be somewhat out of soil (I'm not sure why I read it somewhere at somepoint) Also a question of my own... How long has it been in water? I'm trying to grow multiple avocados at the moment, and am just wondering hoe long it should take. Hope I could help!!!

thank you for the help!! i’ve had the avocado in the water for quite a while, not sure when exactly but i believe i put it in sometime in the fall \& it took about six weeks to initially grow roots. I’ve just been keeping it in there until i’ve have the time to pot it :)

This is mine, I have repotted 2x in the last year, the roots have grown CRAZY fast. When I first put it in soil from water, I kept it pretty wet to acclimate. Its the first time Ive done this, so I dont have expertise advice. When the roots where growing out the bottom, I put her in a larger pot. She's been in this one, 6", for about 3 months. She's 18" tall
