Rosemary you can from a cutting but aloe is best if you wait until there’s a pup (small baby) growing and that can be divided off.

Oo! Ok yeah my one has had some pups, do you know how frequently they have pups?

Mine put off a ton when I bring them inside for the winter \& the early parts of spring

All depends on the situation and plant

For aloe you can’t just cut a leaf off and stick it in water. You need to separate the little shoots they put out.
