Hiya! I'm propogating some String of Hearts for the first time ever. I didn't have access to spagnum moss so I've made them a little greenhouse out of wet paper towels, a takeaway container and dipped their ends in growth hormones. This is my first time trying the butterfly method.

If I keep the wet paper towel moist, do you think I'll have much success?

Personally I’ve done string of pearls and string of turtles directly in soil for propagation. I just added a dome on top and made sure to vent frequently. The issue I see with the paper towel is that these will be very fragile roots to pot.

With rooting hormone I think you'd be fine starting them in soil. I used coco coir \& tree fern fiber (also in a takeout container) cause I had a small amount left over from mixing a potting medium earlier, and even with just 1cm of that mix, they rooted just fine and now have their own pot. From my various attempts, it really does seem like the humidity is the important part.
