# This may be a dumb question but I’ve never propagated anything from…

_Posted by Raquel on 2024-10-10_

This may be a dumb question but I’ve never propagated anything from stems it’s always had some leaves on it. Once these have plenty of root and I place them in soil do I place them laying down the way they are in here or do I “stand them up”? I have some roots now but I want to make sure they have a stable root system before I transfer them.

lay them so the roots are in but not these stem pieces. putting the stems in soil will likely result in rot

So these won’t be able to be planted in soil?

the roots can be! but the stem parts will should stay above the soil
