With my anecdotal experience in mind I would say no, do not top that little tree! With consistently moist soil, space for root growth, and lots of filtered light or north-facing light, it will grow straight up and branch naturally. I have a healthy one (see photo) that had some struggles before I found a good routine, and another previously wimpy one making the same recovery at my partner’s house. Have fun, they can get pretty tall for being housebound! My sister’s is about 4 feet.
