# Sooooo… I was repotting this pin-stripe calathea (Goeppertia ornata)…

_Posted by Cemarshall on 2024-06-10_

Sooooo… I was repotting this pin-stripe calathea (Goeppertia ornata) that I got from my buy nothing group and one of its 3 leaves broke off 😭😭😭 It broke all the way at the base - close to the root. Do you think I can propagate it? I have a rattlesnake calathea right now and only propagated via splitting. Any advice is very much appreciated!

Unfortunately, calatheas cannot be propagated by a leaf. You can probably keep it alive but it won’t grow into a full plant

Bummer! I guess it’s a good thing there’s more plant! Thanks for your knowledge 😊
