Im just a novice so take my advice with a grain of salt, but when im repotting a new plant, i spray it down with a neem oil and water mixture, making sure to focus on the roots. I didnt do it with a palm plant i recently brought home and now i have fungus gnats ☹️

I typically will spray with neem oil whenever I see something a little sus, just as a precaution. I will spray each leaf and wipe it with a microfiber cloth/glove

I usually use a small amount of neem when I clean my plants leaves. Or first sight of insects.

When I bought my bonsai the guy sold me a neem oil spray mixture, he recommended I spray the leaves once a week to prevent and more often to treat an issue that comes up…? But I am admittedly a beginner.

He is a 20yr old bonsai, so a new plant likely won’t need it as often, I’d imagine
