Hey there. Do you think this setup is okay for growing some roots on my monstera leaf?

the stem needs to be shorter; at least by a 1/4

What do you mean by that?

i’d also like to know

is that due to the cutting size or because it’s touching the bottoms of the vase? I’ve always wondered if I’m supposed to keep them off of the bottoms of the vase or not

Is there a node?

### Bella56 commented on 2024-05-03

This won’t propagate unless there’s a node

I can’t see a node in your photo. The node would be from part of the main branch. If this is just a leaf and the stem connecting the leaf and branch it wouldn’t do anything. But you can keep it as decoration until it expires

Be careful with it is direct sun the vase it’s in with water can set fire

#### Cait2k3 replied on 2024-05-03

Um.. water in glass setting fire? Are monsteras especially flammable or am I missing something here?

#### Angel replied on 2024-05-03

No the water acts like a magnifying glass in the round clear vase, it’ll focus the sun rays to one spot and can cause a fire that way. It happens a lot where I’m at (Az)👍

#### Cait2k3 replied on 2024-05-03

Huh. I live in AZ too. I googled this idea “flowers catching fires in vases” and the closest result was that the vase could act as a magnifying glass and set a close object, like clothing, on fire

Yes, it can also melt plastic it happened to my mommas table before😂
