# First time ever propagating anything so I am not sure when to plant…

_Posted by Jess on 2025-01-05_

First time ever propagating anything so I am not sure when to plant my ivy in soil. Also are the roots supposed to be that brown color?
I just have her in a glass of water in a bright / indirect light.
Change the water every 2 weeks and top off every 3 days.

I plant in media after 2" . If they are soft, no... if they are firm and feel healthy, yes. If roots are exposed to lots of light they will turn brown.

Get a first layer of finely shredded bark then medium chunks on top then get a stick and stick it vertically to mimic the trees it naturally grows
