# Hi i don’t propagate my plants often but i was thinking of cutting…

Hi i don’t propagate my plants often but i was thinking of cutting one of my philodendrons but i’m unsure of where and if it’ll grow back, if anyone has any advice i will be very grateful ^^

Cut under the node. I would cut under 2 or 3 growth points. And then propagate more than one. I like to have two of everything at minimum :)

Oh boy, once you get the hang of propagating just watch your planta plant number skyrocket lol

Like Mamacita84 mentioned, you’ll want to make cuttings that include the node since that’s where new roots will start to form. I like to pick a long trailing vine and make a bunch of cuttings because not all of them will take root -this way I increase my odds of multiple babies. When they’re ready, they get planted in the same pot so it’s more full rather than just one sad and lonely prop.

Just in case you don’t know what a node is or where it’s located on this plant, here’s a quick reference. The node is the little nubbin at the base of each leaf stem (highlighted, poorly). So you’ll make your cuts one either side of the nub.
