Propagating my pothos! This is all I have left of my plant so I really want to succeed with this one. Any advice?

Make sure to change the water at least every couple of weeks. I’ve noticed that pothos for the most part are fast rooters so it should only take a couple of weeks. When the roots have secondary roots they’re ready to be potted. Keep the soil moist and expect a bit of transplant shock for a few days.

Just wanted to share that I’m doing the same. They’ve been in water for a few weeks, each one starting with one leaf. They all have new a new leaf(s) and just waiting for a few more secondary roots. I replace water almost weekly as they seem to produce algae very easily. And using root drops has been helpful. So here’s to successful propagation for both of us!

I have successfully propagated 2 pothos stems and am waiting for my third to develop roots.
I have never propagated anything before but so far it seems to be going well. From my own experience keep your water level up correctly and don’t rush the planting. Make sure that you have a good root growth before you get excited about potting the young plants. Don’t over or under water the new young plants but don’t get too concerned or worried. My experience so far is pothos are pretty forgiving and resilient plants.

Best advice, be patient. For most of my propagation I do a 2 month timeliness. The first month is in water, then 2 weeks to a month is soaking/wet soil. After two months, yoi should have well established roots in soil that are ready to get back to a typical watering schedule. I find this timeliness reduces shock. It's not perfect though, some cutting might take longer in water and it is ok to leave them in water for as long as you want.

Here are my current propagation stations. New to me babies get individual glasses, my existing pothos get the large tanks with grids. The neon pothos on the left have been in water since Aug. 2nd.

I put a drop or two of liquid fertilizer to my propagation water 😁
