What do y'all do if your pothos water prop starts sprouting roots at two separate nodes? 🫣 Best course of action?? The nodes are a good 3" apart 🫪

For future reference, does this mean that I had too many nodes on my cutting?

You can cut them apart, but I would wait for the cut part to heal before planting or returning to water.

never too many nodes. but 3" apart indicates poor light on the mother plant, leaves should never be 3" apart. that's light starvation

The only thing the mother plant is deprived of is "space" for its mission for world conquest 🤪

I typically cut my clippings into each individual leaf with a node attached. If I get a section of 9 leaves with 10 nodes then I cut up 9 new cuttings and one of them will just be the lucky dual node. Strangely enough, all of my pothos cuttings with 2 nodes have developed a new leaf (under the water) on one of the node and roots on the other node. Pothos are strange, but having 2 sets of roots just means you can either have a much more robust single plant, or cut it into 2 perfectly fine separate ones that you can then plant together to increase your plant’s density.

Thanks a ton! This is helpful

Fun fact, pothos are naturally highly productive of rooting hormones and can speed up the rooting of other propogating plants just by sharing water space. If you cut them into as many nodes as possible then you can increase the rooting hormone in the water as high as possible. I like to keep a pothos cutting in all of my propagation glasses and at least one in my fish tank.
