# I just notched my Thai constellation last night and I was wondering…

_Posted by Ashlee on 2024-07-17_

I just notched my Thai constellation last night and I was wondering what I should do while the notch heals?

After I initially notched it, I added a little hydrogen peroxide to the wound, then maybe 7 hours later before I went to bed, and a little more this morning. I figured that was probably a good thing... I’m adding a very small amount to the wound, like a drop, so I don’t harm it.

I worry I won’t heal the notch correctly and end up rotting it or have to end up chopping it and start over.

Lmk!

\*This pic is about 15 hours later\*

I would make my plant a salve out of my other plants if it had a wound I was worried about not healing properly. I’d probably use oregano for antibacterial, maybe cloves if possible, self heal is awesome, and maybe some lavender or sage for protection. Thats just me tho i’ve never cut into a monstera and put hydrogen peroxide on the wound. You are supposed to satanize your cutting utensils but I don’t think it’s necessary to do on the plant itself.

I sanatized everything before hand but I sawn a plant guy on YouTube recommend adding a little hydrogen peroxide to the cut. He had albos and Thai’s that looked beautiful so I blindly trusted him. lol The cut seems to be callusing over already. Fingers crossed! 🤞🏼

I just recently saw someone do this but I’m not brave enough ! 😆 I did see them add a fan but other than that I’m probably no help, let us know if it works 😁

What’s the purpose of notching?

I’ve used aloe vera. Just slice a piece off and put the goo on the wound.

I notched my tineke a few months ago but didn’t apply anything to the notch, just made sure my blades were really clean. It’s done really well so far!

I’m not sure if it’s a universal process though, compared to your monstera the tinekes stem is a lot woodier.
