Hi! So I'm propagating string of hearts in perlite and I was wondering whether fungus gnats will leg their eggs in the perlite or not? I used perlite hoping that they wouldn't but I saw one in there today and it made me a bit worried. There is normally a lid that I placed on for humidity too

They shouldn’t be able to. They eat fungus that exists in soil and lay larvae there. I would bet this is transiently there (just passing through)
