# What would you do? This big boy/girl needs to spread out, it’s…

What would you do?
This big boy/girl needs to spread out, it’s getting way to big/tall for the pot so it’s going to tip over with the weight, I’m already holding it up with two bamboo sticks. I’m afraid of damaging it so I need advice.
The top part is thriving and as you can see, it’s reaching out in several directions. Under that, the middle part leaves are sort of dying of old age I guess and the lower part has new babies busting out from under.
Should I cut the stem under the middle part above the babies, take those yellow leaves out \& plant the stem with the cross like top on a different pot? Will it keep going and not die?

I’ll leave the lower part with the new babies flourish on this pot since they seem to like it there.

Thanks

Look into deadheading succulents. I think most do survive after chopping the top off, you just have to have 1-2in. of stem (so take off enough leaves to have that), let it callous over and plant it in a pot, slightly burying the stem to keep it upright. I’ve heard don’t water until you have some roots. Successfully propagating succulents can be such a hit or miss though 😅 so it’s more whether you’re willing to take the risk!

I think what I did incorrect, was to try and hold the plant upright with the bamboo sticks as it grew because it kept getting bigger \& heavier at the top with the support. So now when I take both sticks out, the plant leans over down horizontal, which is not necessarily a bad thing, but it didn’t grow like that so it’s putting a lot of bent pressure on the stem and it looks like it can snap at any moment. I do like the hanging aspect.
Hmm I sure don’t want to kill it by cutting it so I guess I have two options to consider, either I’ll transfer the whole plant to a bigger pot and repot it so it’s leaning properly or cut and repot the top section. I will definitely let it hang naturally on the next pot no matter what and let it do what it wants without my interference. Thanks for the advice

What type of plant is that? I want one!

I was recently told it is a Sedeveria Lilac Mist. It was just a vertical one when I got it and then it started spreading horizontally on each side 😊
