I’m thinking maybe this plant is root bound? It has drainage and isn’t around direct ac or heat but it’s just a stick and the leaves frequently turn brown or just fall off green. Something is not right with it. Any help is appreciated

You can check by just gently lifting him out of the pot.  
Also, do you have more pictures?

I bet he would like more light. I believe they’re a bit finicky about being rushed into more light. Needs to be acclimated to it.
