Whats everyones favorite/most successful medium for propagating Hoya’s from stem cuttings? (Krimson Queen specifically)

I’ve only ever used water for all my plants and have zero issues with any type I’ve done. Right now I have a Hoya Chelsea that I started a month ago and its started to show the TINIEST roots. Now I know 4 weeks is an average time, I’ve just never had any of my plants take that long to show any signs of life…and I’m impatient LOL

Also, grow light? Or window?

I grow lots of plants in water too! Hoyas can take quite a while to root in water. You could put it in a well draining soil (may also be called a cactus and succulent mix, it’s soil with additional perlite for drainage). You can water it when it has almost completely dried out, and Hoyas love light! A west or south window would be ideal but east would be okay too. If you only have a north window, I recommend getting a grow light.

I’ve got all the light options except south facing :)

I’ve done 100% of my props in my north facing window - it gets the first 2 hours of direct sun in the morning and then the last 1.5 hrs of light in the evening. Everything I’ve done has loved it and started to show signs within a week…except my hoya :(

I had a krimson queen in my west facing window before and it seemed to be too much sun/heat for it. I couldn’t keep any moisture in the soil, despite having repotted it in correct size/mixture etc. And then it started to develop black spots on the leaves and spiraled quickly.

It took me a while to get over and now I’m trying again. But I don’t want the disastrous outcome of last time lol

I put my Hoya cuttings in damp sphagnum moss under a grow light and they grow roots in a few weeks but I’ve never had a Chelsea, so might be a little different for that one. Best of luck!
