# My philodendron had a harsh winter and lost most of its leaves and so…

My philodendron had a harsh winter and lost most of its leaves and so I finally decided to take the two sprouts that were doing best and try to propagate them. This is my first time propagating though. Is it okay to leave the old roots or should I trim them at a node to start over?

Personally, I would cut the roots. But if you don’t wanna do that just wash off the dirt.
