I did something bold \& chopped off my diffenbachia completely — the only reason being was that it was very leggy. After watching videos on how you can prop in water I’m hoping I can save it 😭😭

You totally got it! the best thing is to just forget about them because some things take a longer time than others to prop. You should definitely try rooting hormone on the nodes if you haven’t yet you can get the powder from Walmart in the plant fertilizer section

Thank you! I’m definitely going to look into that because even in the video the guy waited a month to repot \& it looked like it barely had grown secondary roots 😩😩 this one is going to test me

Be patient with these guys - they take their sweet time growing roots. But the results would be worth it! Lots of dieffenbachias!!

I just did this! I came here to see if anyone else had because my leaves are all turning yellow :( it’s in the same place I had it potted so I’m not sure what’s wrong. Did this work for you? Any tips?

Oh no! I’m sorry they’re turning yellow 😭  
I did lose a few leaves that also turned yellow, but it was still putting out new growth(not necessarily from the top but more like under the water.)  
As long as you have some green leaves it’ll still photosynthesize— I had my cuttings in front of an east window.  
I eventually chopping the babies off \& planted them alone to create a brand new plant. This is the babies now

Ah it looks so good! Okay I’ll stick with it, I was worried I did something wrong but it looks like I did the same thing as everyone else. It may just be losing leaves out of necessity, it’s only been about a week. Thank you so much!

I will say i chopped it around June/July \& waited about 05/06 months to get a good amount of new growth— I could’ve tried potting the original plant but I really wanted to start over which is why I chose to grow the pups instead
