How should I bring my alocasia back from dormancy?

I’ve had my Alocasia Bambino for over a year. In August/September last year it lost almost all its leaves. Then as the last one was completely yellowed 2 new leaves sprouted. They lasted until mid December, and fell off when I came back from winter break in mid January. Since January I’ve kept it in the dirt \& very little watering. I’ve read they come back in the spring but mine hasn’t. It’s firm and doesn’t feel rotted.

I was thinking of putting it in a jar with dirt (added perlite?) to increase the humidity and warmth to wake it up?

I’m not experienced with alocasias so anything helps! I don’t even know if this type goes into dormancy lol. I kept it in the planter like in my picture until today.

From what I understand and increase in heat, light and humidity are what the plant needs to come out of dormancy. When you replant it make sure the soil is warm and moist, and be very careful not to overwater until it starts pushing out new leaves. Your instinct to increase humidity is correct, but alocasia is very sensitive to repotting, so I would plant it in the pot you plan to keep it in (they like to be root bound so make sure the pot isn’t bigger than it needs to be). To keep it humid you can cover it with a plastic bag or if you have a jar/plastic container large enough you could place that over the pot. A good way to increase humidity is to place the potted plant on a tray or dish full of rocks and water, and then cover the plant with plastic bag, Tupperware or a dome of some sort (just make sure it’s not airtight or open it every now and then to make sure it’s not rotting). You can move it to a brighter window if it’s not already in one. Good luck!
