# i’m horrible at propagating….. my peperomia was dying so I chopped it…

i’m horrible at propagating….. my peperomia was dying so I chopped it at the top and tried to give it a second chance but so far no roots and this white film is all over the top at the water line. I threw a pothos cutting in there too because I heard it can help speed up root growth. any advice??

Hmm. Do you have very hard tap water?

Make sure to switch out water often

okay thank you! i’ve just been topping off water instead of dumping. is there anything I need to do to clean them / get them healthy?

Hydrogen peroxide mixed into the water. Couple drops. Just in case you have something funky in there

When I’m rooting a cutting, I pour out half the water and refill every day or so. That adds oxygen while keeping rooting hormones.

Use filtered water or even distilled water perhaps
