# Hi! i got this hoya compacta today and she needs the SOS treatment…

_Posted by Gasso on 2026-09-25_

Hi! i got this hoya compacta today and she needs the SOS treatment 😅😭 i got her for a steal so figured id at least try to nuke the hitchhikers myself.

idek where to begin or what issues she’s got feeding on her at this point. i’ve only ever dealt with gnats and minor spider mites before so i haven’t a clue where to begin. does anyone know what i might be dealing with? i assumed some sorta pest soak/bath could be a good place to start maybe? but how do those work, what do i use lol i might be in over my head

any advice is SUPER appreciated! thanks in advance! 🙏

Is any of it sticky or soot on the foliage?

i haven’t seen any evidence of active mealy bugs (those ones i recognize lol) but maybe remnants from a past infestation. i’m kiiiiinda thinking some sorta mites and maybe thrips are the more likely?

i wanna do a full dunk since spraying isn’t gonna be enough in all the nooks \& crannies but also her soil is already wet from the nursery she came from so i don’t wanna risk root rot either 😩
