If I pinch off the leaves of this geranium, will it grow new ones closer to the base?

I read on Reddit that would work to help it branch out a bit, but I wanted to get other opinions before I tried it.

Maybe try to find some YouTube videos of people doing it and usually if there are videos with people using that method and then having progress updates- it’s legit and you can see how it’s done! If there arent many other articles or videos out there about that method I would be nervous to try it.
