# I have a jalapeño plant that is flowering a lot and growing new…

I have a jalapeño plant that is flowering a lot and growing new little buds, but the flowers fall right off with no jalapeño produced. I have it staked to help with energy focusing on production. I have also stopped watering it as much, and I’m waiting for it to dry out at the top inch of soil before watering again. Any thoughts about what is going on?

It might be because of poor pollination, this might not be the exact reason but is probably the most likely cause

Is there a way to really fix that?

You could try pollinating it yourself with a q-tip, small brush or just your finger and it might transfer the pollen from the stamen or the stigma. You could also plant flowers nearby the en purge pollinators to come

For Pepper Joe's germination mix, you can consider using bone meal or blood meal, or both, depending on your soil needs. Bone meal provides phosphorus, which is important for root development and flowering. Blood meal is a good source of nitrogen, which promotes leafy growth. If your soil is deficient in either of these nutrients, adding the corresponding meal can be beneficial.
Here's a more detailed breakdown:
Bone Meal:
Great for adding phosphorus, which is crucial for root development, flowering, and overall plant strength. It's particularly helpful when transplanting seedlings into larger pots and can be mixed into the soil at that time.
Blood Meal:
A good source of nitrogen, which is essential for healthy leaf growth. It can be beneficial for overall plant vigor, but use it judiciously as it's a potent fertilizer.
Combining Bone Meal and Blood Meal:
If you want to provide both phosphorus and nitrogen, you can combine them in your germination mix. However, ensure you're not over-fertilizing, as this can harm seedlings.
Pepper Joe's Mighty Plant:
Pepper Joe's offers a soluble plant food that includes both blood meal and bone meal, providing readily available nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium, along with micronutrients.
Tips for using bone meal and blood meal:
Soil Testing:
If you're unsure about your soil's nutrient levels, it's a good idea to test it before adding any amendments.
Gradual Incorporation:
If adding bone meal or blood meal, mix it into the soil thoroughly to ensure even distribution.
Start Small:
When using blood meal, especially, start with a small amount and observe your plants before adding more.
Timing:
For bone meal, you can mix it into the soil before planting or transplanting seedlings. Blood meal can be incorporated into the soil before planting or used as a top dressing for established plants.

Wear a mask with bone meal, it has a super strong smell. Like chicken c\*\*\*
