does anyone have general advice for starting a hanging basket of flowers from scratch?

context: I have 2 large extra hanging baskets and next spring/summer I’d love to grow some flowers from seed to display in them. but I know nothing about outdoor gardening and don’t even know where to start.

I’m in zone 6b/7a! thanks for reading!

Maybe try petunias? I never thought I’d like them but they put out so much color! Check out “gardening answer” on YT for her petunias. I put mine in hanging baskets after I started seeing all the gorgeous ones on YT. Just wow. Or for foliage only, I do either philodendrons (Brasils) or pothos. Those just can’t take direct sun. Full sun, potato vine (lime, purple, variegated), variegated vinca vine. Have fun! I’ve never grown anything from seed before. I need to try!
