Does anyone have tips for keeping a Daphne happy?

I just bought one for my mom and plan on giving it to her for her birthday tomorrow. We're in zone 8b. The specific variety of Daphne is "Perfume Princess."

The specimen I selected seems relatively happy, despite some droopy yellow leaves towards the base of the plant...
