I am very very new to this keeping plants alive thing and i’ve been loving every minute of it. One of the first houseplants i got was a bird of paradise (nobody warned me) i for sure thought this thing would never ever get a new leaf cause well i’m in a very cold dry place in canada so like the exact opposite of what this guy needs but LOOK here he is sprouting a tiny guy. Feeling very accomplished in myself right now!!

side note i think the spider mites jumped from my ivy to this guy i have a friend making a neem oil insecticide but i really want him to thrive, besides giving him a shower how can i help??)

I’ve successfully used diatomaceous earth. Use a soft paint brush and dust the plant and soil. You’ll need to bottom water for this to work though. So the d earth stays dry
