Was wondering what this weird bumpy leaf was on my Alocasia scalprum, but after some online searching I think it’s a flower/inflorescence! This is my first ever Alocasia so I’m glad she’s happy!

It seems the reddit consensus is to let the flower bloom \& wilt before cutting— do y’all agree?

I’ve been looking at Scalprums lately, they are so beautiful! Can I ask if you bought yours online or in person somewhere? I’m looking for reputable nurseries.

As for the inflo, I’ve gone both ways and I didn’t really notice a difference on my alocasias whether I chopped or kept it.

I bought mine at a small local greenhouse! It was the first time I’d ever seen one \& haven’t come across another in-person since. I know that’s not much help, sorry!!

Sounds good, I’ll probably let it bloom then😊 thank you!!!

if you would like to enjoy the flower, do so. if you would rather it continue to focus on putting out new leaves, cut it off immediately. flowering drives energy away from leaf production, but it will return to normal once the flower dies.
