# I just received this money tree for my birthday. I really want to…

I just received this money tree for my birthday. I really want to keep it alive because my daughter bought it for me. She’s in college so it was shipped via Amazon—so I know it’s been through some shock during travel.

I see the roots are already coming through the pot (see picture). What should my first steps be? And how long should i wait to do anything? The top is dry, but the soil is moist when i put a wooded stick down.

Thanks in advanced for any help!
