# Hi, I’m new here. I just got these two Boston Ferns and one of them…

Hi, I’m new here. I just got these two Boston Ferns and one of them is getting brown crunchy leaves (on the right) and the other is doing really well(on the left). It’s the fist time I’ve ever had ferns. I made the mistake of putting them on the back porch when I first got them. They now live here in the west facing window. Does anyone have any tips on these?

It looks like the plant won’t have enough light. It needs to be hanging low enough that it can see the sky!

Thank you! I’ll move them 🥰

They need water almost every day, sometimes every two or three, depending on the quantity. It’s overWATERING FOR SURE!

I don’t think I’ve been watering them enough 😰

Sometimes giving them a good misting between watering will be enough. I must mine several times a week, water once or twice a week. And mine did very well in a western facing window! It loved the balance of direct and indirect light!

I had this problem with the Boston ferns… they have a really high humidity need. Don’t let them dry out and mist regularly. It also sounds as though one of your plants is getting more sun than the other. Monitor the light coming in through the window throughout the day… you’ll soon find out whether your unhealthy plant is lacking or needing more light. Try swapping them around regularly perhaps, to see if that evens things out a bit… or remove the unhealthy plant and find a better spot for it.

They LOVE humidity! They’d do great next to a diffuser/humidifier or in a bathroom.

Put them in the bathroom when you take a shower
