My black velvet is flowering. I thought it was a new leaf and out popped this strange looking thing. I have 2 more stalks growing and I think it might just be more flowers. So it’s ok to remove it? Do I just cut at the base?

yep snip at the base. You can leave them and let them die off on their own or snip them. People often choose to snip them because the flowers take a ton of energy from the plant. Snipping flowers = more energy for the plant to put into its leaves and roots

Thank you
