All of the ones they had, had these on the stems. What is it?

Do you mean the dark speckles or the extra “skin” on the stems that sticks out a little bit?

I meant the dark spots

I think it might just be the way it looks? Google "Spotted Alocasia stem" or "Alocasia Zebrina"
