# This is my first Alocasia and I’ve had it for probably about 5 months…

This is my first Alocasia and I’ve had it for probably about 5 months now. I haven’t had any new growth except for this that started about a week ago. Is this a flower ?? Or new leaf forming ? Regardless I’m excited to see an addition to itself :)

It’s an inflorescence! Basically a flower. You can cross pollinate with other Alocasia if you had any. I’m not super educated on this but you could research if you were interested!

I ended up cutting mine off of my silver dragon, I got 3 inflorescences in a row and it was taking so much energy and killing off my leaves 🙁

Oh wow! No wonder I lost a leaf during the growth of this :(((( thank you so much for this info! I’ll probably follow in your footsteps and give it a chop haha

Your plant is gorgeous so I hope it doesn’t lose any more leaves!

I would make sure the light is bright and make sure to fertilize fertilize fertilize they are super hungry

I bet that would get it growing
