# I have a new Frydek Variegated… it came from a corm and was given to…

I have a new Frydek Variegated… it came from a corm and was given to me in leca. I’ve potted it in well draining soil and have a humidifier near it. The one leaf still looks crispy on the edge. Am I doing something wrong? Any tips?
It’s in the west facing window.

I have one that did the exact same thing. He had another leaf which is still going strong so I don’t have a lot of advice but the entire leaf did eventually dry up like the edges. I wondered if it had something to do with transplant shock.

That is my hope as well! That it needs to adjust to the new home and soil and it will put out another leaf (hopefully several) after it adjusts.

What conditions and soil to you have yours in?

Increase humidity if you can by placing it close to a humidifier

It is pretty well beside the humidifier. Started it about a week ago.

That’s great. Variegated alocasias can be very finnicky so def do not worry too much about it even if it loses all its leaves. Alocasias are also pretty good at bouncing back from only their tubers. Make sure it has a very chunky aroid soil mix. I keep my variegated dragon scale alocasia in a greenhouse cabinet with 70 F and 60-70% humidity. If you can immitate those conditions you should be good!

I forgot to mention that if its a newish plant. This is also normal as they need time to acclimate to their new environment.

Thanks! Getting a greenhouse cabinet is on my wish list! I am a fairly new plant enthusiast! Have always loved them but getting into it more now.
I have it in a mix of soil perlite and bark.
