# Hi all, I just received a few Alocasia plants. A Black Velvet, a Melo…

Hi all,

I just received a few Alocasia plants. A Black Velvet, a Melo and a Mickey Mouse. I have been doing a ton of research and I’m having some confusion with humidity and light. I have read some that say north or east facing windows are great. Some say west. I am also considering artificial lighting for ease of location rather than finding a window.

For humidity, I live in Colorado where it’s pretty dry. I currently have them on a pebble dish with water, but I’m not sure that’s enough. I do have large glass vases and thought about putting a pebble dish in them with the alocasia sitting inside of them. I’m just not sure.

I am open to all and any suggestions. Humid plants are pretty new to me and I want to make sure I’m doing it correctly.
