I picked up a new philodendron today! I needed to reward myself for finishing my finals 😂 Sometimes I wonder why I went back to school again lol. Anyways, this little guy caught my eye. The label just said “new hybrid.” It looks a tad even more red in person. And it looks like the leaves don’t green down as much as prince of orange and mccolley's finale. I wonder what its a hybrid of. Really excited to watch it grow ☺️

That is an interesting one! I love philodendrons and haven’t seen this one before.

I know right? It’s been a while since I’ve seen a new-to-me philodendron 😂

Haha thanks! Yeah it’s way different when you also have adult things to worry about. Some weeks there’s like no time for classes/homework 😬

I snooped your profile and see you have some caladiums. How do you like them? Do they need high humidity?

I like them a lot. I don’t think humidity is super important with them, but they like consistent watering without drying out. I grow mine outdoors and let them go dormant when the weather gets cold. Storing the bulbs can be hit or miss, but I have way too many plants to grow all my outdoor ones inside for half the year 😅

I wonder if it’s a Red Sun that just hasn’t gotten enough light in the store? The leaf shape is right. I just saw some in-store for the first time today

Here is a sun red for comparison. The newer red leaves turn copper before they turn green. It doesn’t show well in the photos but all the bottom leaves are not fully green yet. I think you may have another hybrid though.
