# Hello! I recently came into possession of this, sold as ‘imperfect’,…

Hello! I recently came into possession of this, sold as ‘imperfect’, oak leaf philodendron (pedatum). It arrived in quite poor condition, as can be seen it has grown substantially without support - it’s very horizontal. Most of the leaves also have some sort of damage. I’ve only had it a few days but it is sat in a north east facing corner window (UK) in the soil it arrived in, which corresponds to bright indirect light.

My question is what is the best way to care for this chap and sort it out? Could I repot now with a mossy pole but angle it so the stem is straight \& the roots are not? Is it a lost cause \& can I attempt propagation? Any advice would be much appreciated, thank you!

i would repot with a moss pole. you'd definitely need to go a pot size up if you do that though, if the root system isn't large enough it'll be okay crawling for a little longer. hassling with a long stem is a lot easier than treating root rot. to propagate or not to propagate is really up to you \& what results you want tbh, if the end goal is a bushy plant, go ahead

I would agree with @plantgeek. Tie or pin her to the moss pole and she will eventually acclimate. Fresh soil and she should start pushing new leaves. You can then start to get rid of the bad leaves one at a time. She’s gonna be beautiful. Be patient and don’t give up on her. She’ll tell you if she likes what you’re doing. Godspeed!! 💚💚

Thank you both for the advice glad to hear she’s not a lost cause, it looks like I have a plan. Seems like this could be a fun project!
