# Does anyone know what is causing the spots on my black cardinal…

Does anyone know what is causing the spots on my black cardinal philodendron? The older leaves have had them since I got the starter plant about 8 months ago. Finally getting new growth and today noticed the spots on the new growth as well. Not on all leaves and no pests I can see.

I think it may be edema. I was noticing this with mine so I repotted it… the roots needed more space I think, couldn’t take up water correctly. Since then the new growth hasn’t had those spots.

So repot..upsize is what I should do..correct?

I didn’t… I just used fresh soil and then didn’t water as often

Looks like edema to me too. Too much water in the plant causing water blisters that pop.
