I would appreciate any tips on how to get variegation on a philodendron white knight.

It has reverted to green. Chop it and hope the new growth will come back with some white.

Is this the only hope? I really don't want to chop it off, but if that's the only way to get variegation, I'll do it.

#### Mr Variegated replied on 2025-02-22

Was there ever any white? It almost looks like it was reverted from the start.

#### Mr Variegated replied on 2025-02-22

I think it’ll keep growing green if you leave it. It’s only pushing out green.

#### Samantha replied on 2025-02-22

I got it from clearance, and it's never had any white on it. Maybe that's why it was in clearance? Would you just cut it right at the base?

#### Mr Variegated replied on 2025-02-22

Not right at the base. You want to leave a few nodes for the buds to grow from.
Here’s two of my plants I keep chopping and propping.

Variegated plants need lots of light to maintain their coloring, otherwise they do revert back. So I would also increase the light it’s getting.

It gets quite a bit of light when the sun is shining. It's in a southeast facing window.

Nice philo! How long have you had this?

#### Samantha replied on 2025-02-22

Around two months. I got it around Christmas in the clearance section, I assume because it's so crooked.

I dont think its a white knight because of the dark red stem.

A Congo Red perhaps?

#### Trespence replied on 2025-02-26

For example here’s my Congo red. They do look alike

There is white variegation on the stem, though. And the growing style seems so be a bit different.

Light

### River commented on 2025-02-26

Well, other varieties are the Imperial Red, emerald red, and Andersons red...

#### Samantha replied on 2025-02-26

Idk but if you Google white knight without variegation it looks exactly like that

#### Samantha replied on 2025-02-26

That's one I found on google
